Simon & Garfunkel waren das erfolgreichste Duo der 60er Jahre. Und sie waren (gemessen an den Schallplattenverkäufen) auch das erfolgreichste Duo der 70er, der 80er und der 90er Jahre, obwohl die beiden schon seit 1970 getrennte Wege gingen. Dies lag an den Longplays »Sound Of Silence«, »The Graduate (Die Reifeprüfung)« und ganz besonders »Bridge Over Troubled Water«, die dem Duo traumhafte Plattenverkäufe bis in die heutige Zeit sichern. Zu verdanken hatten die beiden das vor allem den enthaltenen Hits »The Boxer«, »Cecilia«, »El Condor Pasa« und natürlich dem Titelsong.

Still, one is admittedly split- ting hairs when talking about an album that contains such classics as the title song and "The Boxer", as well as such notable tunes as "Cecilia", "El Condor Pasa" and "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright".
