Hed Kandi: The Mix Summer 2007 auf 3 CDs

Last year’s Summer Mix was the best selling HK release ever and this year’s imprint has been plucked from the same tree: three different flavours of delicious Kandi - Disco, Twisted and Ibiza Classic – across three superbly mixed CDs. The idea behind Hed Kandi mix albums is to capture the spirit of their world-famous parties (if you’ve not heard the buzz surrounding these roadblock events or indeed been to one yourself yet then check your pulse, you’re probably dead.) The Hed Kandi live experience is an era-defining one and these mix albums preserve their essence in time; big party tracks with high recognition factor, served up with a unique sense of style and soul.

So, with hands in the air and Disco attitude firmly in place, CD1 kicks off proceedings with some spandex on wax! Booty Luv’s Shine features alongside a sneak exclusive preview of their next single, Don’t Mess With My Man, taken from their forthcoming artist album due in September ‘07. Byron Stingly’s classic Get Up gets an update from Steve Mac, as does the mighty Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing which has been refreshed and rejuvenated here by Alibi vs Rockerfeller. Junior Jack show’s his house seniority with the superb carnival track Dancin, while disc 1 draws to a glittering climax with a few well-known HK favourites Freemasons, Hott 22 and Martin Solveig.

CD2 twists things up with dark-edged delight; there’s the ubiquitous stormer Standing In The Way Of Control from Gossip, Armand Van Helden’s foray into ‘80s sound with New York City Beat and I Want Your Soul, the biggest dance hit of the summer The Freaks The Creeps appears here in newly-vocalled splendour, while there’s more house heritage reworked here, namely D. Ramirez’s first outing as Lisa Marie Experience - Keep On Jumping, and Roger Sanchez’s remix of The Nightcrawler’s mid ‘90s anthem Push The Feeling On.

CD3 really tickles the nostalgia-transmitters further with a full on selection of white isle anthems: from X Press 2 ft David Byrne’s Lazy to the latin lushness of Mighty Dub Katz’ Magic Carpet Ride, and the funk-vicious bassline of Armand Van Helden’s take on Tori Amos’ Professional Widow. David Morales’ seminal party-starter Needing U is here alongside the genius vocal of Black Magic’s Make It Funky (amongst many other gems).

This album is one that everyone will be able to sing along to, and one that demands to be danced to. With a strong presence at all the forthcoming HK summer parties (over 300 in the next 2 months alone including another barnstorming sell-out season in Ibiza) and a strong TV ad campaign to support sales, HK have a feeling this could be their magnum opus and the definitve sound of summer ’07.
