American singer / pianist Gary Wright from New Jersey, a former member of a band called New York Times, joined Spooky Tooth in 1968 for their ‘Spooky Two’ LP, providing songs, keyboards and high-pitched vocals. Following his departure two years later, he formed Wonderwheel, with Mick Jones, Archie Leggat and Bryson Graham. His first solo album, ‘Extraction’ (1971), was an underrated masterpiece of high quality early 70s rock, focusing on a set of excellent ballads written by Wright. With magnificent sound restoration, this CD release ranks among the finest early 70s gems.
