AVID's Gold Re-Masters series marches gloriously onwards with a terrific double header "Glenn And Benny".

We have combined some interesting and unusual pieces from two jazz legends of the swing era, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman.

For the Miller part of our "show" we have collected two great soundtracks from a couple of Hollywood movies Glenn starred in namely Sun Valley Serenade and Orchestra Wives. We also include the wonderful 1939 performance from Carnegie Hall where alongside such greats as Benny Goodman and Paul Whiteman Glenn stole the show with his "sweet and swing Music". To complete our Miller set we have included the music from the movie The Glenn Miller Story starring James Stewart and with music adapted by Henry Mancini who also wrote the main theme to the movie.

For our Benny Goodman set we have selected a wide range of performances from his small group recordings to Benny with strings taken from the 10" LP "Let's Hear The Melody" to his work with the Benny Goodman Orchestra.

We also include the famous radio broadcast from 1951 where Benny among others played a fund raising concert for his friend the legendary band leader Fletcher Henderson who was very ill at that time.

To round things off we finish with 1952 sextet recordings when the band where known as The New Benny Goodman Sextet.
