Product Information
Although the concept of blues great Albert King (1923-1992) performing material associated with rock 'n' roll king Elvis Presley may seem curious on the face of it, fact is that eight of the nine songs on Blues for Elvis are either blues-based or blues outright. Highlights of the album, produced in 1969 by Donald "Duck" Dunn (it's one of his rare production credits) and Al Jackson, Jr., include "Hound Dog" being given the "Crosscut Saw" treatment, a scorching instrumental version of "One Night," and a heartfelt reading of the non-blues ballad "Love Me Tender." Though not credited, there's a hard-riffing horn section present throughout, and the members even take turns soloing on "That's All Right."
