Gegen Ende der 70er Jahre übernahm der Percussionist Pierre Moerlen die Führung der Formation Gong. Ursprünglich im Bereich Psychedelic Space Rock angesiedelt, änderte sich mit Moerlens Hilfe die musikalische Ausrichtung der Band in Richtung Jazz Rock. Es folgten diverse Veröffentlichungen auf Virgin,
bevor die Band 1978 einen Plattenvertrag bei Arista Records unterzeichnete. Nach den Albumveröffentlichungen "Downwind" und "Time Is The Key" nahm die Band schließlich das nun vorliegende Live-Album auf. Die Live-Aufnahmen entstanden mit der Unterstützung von Gastmusikern wie Mike Oldfield, Didier Malherbe, Hansford Rowe und Bon Lozaga.

Esoteric Recordings announce the release of a newly remastered and expanded edition of this acclaimed album by Pierre Moerlen’s Gong. By the late 1970s percussionist Pierre Moerlen had taken over the leadership of Gong and had steered the band away from psychedelic space rock and took the band into a jazz rock direction, one in which the band excelled. After recording several albums with virgin, Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978.
Following the albums Downwind and Time Is The Key (also available on Esoteric), Moerlen’s Band recorded this classic live album. With Hansford Rowe on bass and Bon Lozaga on guitar. The live recordings also saw saxophonist and flautist Didier Malherbe contribute along with special guest Mike Oldfield.
