Zu Beginn der 1960er-Jahre waren Monoaufnahmen der Normalfall der Tonkonservierung. Erst Ende des Jahrzehntes gewannen Stereoaufzeichnungen mehr und mehr an Bedeutung.
In dieser Zeit (1964–1969) veröffentlichten auch die britischen Rocklegenden The Kinks ihre ersten Alben im Monoformat.
Mit »The Mono Collection« gibt es jetzt eine umfangreiche Vinylbox, die sich diesen Aufnahmen widmet.

Die erste »Mono Collection« der legendären Kinks
Mit »The Mono Collection« von The Kinks erscheint 2016 eine 10-LPs-Box der legendären britischen Rockband.Der Name kommt natürlich nicht von ungefähr: Bei allen Aufnahmen handelt es sich nämlich um die ursprünglichen Monoversionen.
Die Box enthält die ersten acht Alben der Band, und zwar auf 180 g schwerem Vinyl, darunter »Kinks« (1964), »Kinda Kinks« (1965), »The Kink Kontroversy« (1965), »Face to Face« (1966), »Something Else by The Kinks« (1967), »The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society« (1968) und »Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)« (1969) sowie das erste Kinks-Livealbum »The Kinks Live at Kelvin Hall« (1967).
Als besonderes Highlight wartet auf »The Mono Collection« zudem eine weitere Doppel-LP mit einem Best-of der Kinks. Dieses ist auch als »The Black Album« bekannt.
Abgerundet wird das Box-Set von einem 48 Seiten starken Hardcoverbuch. Es enthält seltene, teilweise unveröffentlichte Fotos und neue Interviews mit Ray Davies, Dave Davies und Mick Avory.
Back to the roots: Nach den Beatles und den Stones veröffentlichen nun auch The Kinks eine »Mono Collection«. Ein absolutes Highlight für Fans, Musikliebhaber und Sammler.
