Product Information
Since their formation in the summer of 2005, Salt Lake City-based doom / rock band SUBROSA have slowly been recognized as one of the more unique bands in their genre. Harnessed by a monolithically heavy rhythm-section along with employing two electric violinists and being fronted by the enchanting and seductive vocals of Rebecca Vernon, SUBROSA would gain more awareness when their third album, "No Help For The Mighty Ones" (their Profound Lore Records debut), was released in Feb 2011 and garnered critical acclaim amongst the press. At the time when "No Help." was released, it was easily recognized SUBROSA's best work to date, and for a lot of people it was their first exposure to SUBROSA which in-turn would also make an impression likewise to said people. The band's sound would accumulate like a seductive mix of Kyuss, Sleep, L7, and P. J. Harvey, while at the same time, employ a folk / neoclassical/ chamber music-like influence in their sound canvas as well. Now with their new album entitled "More Constant Than The Gods", SUBROSA have delivered their most accomplished and enrapturing work yet. An album in which will present more opportunity for the band and one that will bring the Salt Lake City contingent even more recognition likewise. Continuing in the vein of their predecessor, "More Constant Than The Gods" comes across as not only the best sounding SUBROSA album yet, but the most meticulously composed, structured, and the heaviest yet most-beautiful album of the band's repertoire. As "No Help For The Mighty Ones" was one of the most recognized heavy music releases of 2011 ending up on many year end best-of lists (i. e. Decibel, Pitchfork's Show No Mercy column), "More Constant Than The Gods" will likewise be one of the most acclaimed doom-metal / rock oriented releases of 2013 and will put SUBROSA alongside the most recognized bands in this sector of the genre such as Royal Thunder, Kylesa, and Witch Mountain.
