FonoForum 11/10: "Eine liebevollere und gleichzeitig formal bündigere und trennschärfere Einspielung des "Falstaff" ist mir nicht bekannt, und auch in der zweiten Sinfonie und der "Cockaigne"-Ouvertüre demonstriert Boult seine unangreifbare Autorität in Sachen Elgar. Auch sein Dirigat von Waltons Sinfonie Nr. 1 überzeugt auf ganzer Linie und macht durch souveräne strukturelle Übersicht wett, was ihm vielleicht ein wenig an Biss und Dramatik fehlt."
